Summary

This article describes which yFiles Flex library file should be used with which Flex SDK / Flex Builder version.

Description

As each major Flex SDK release brought incompatible changes, different versions of the yFiles FLEX library were necessary in the course of time. In the following the supported Flex SDKs are listed by the yFiles FLEX versions.

yFiles FLEX 1.2 - yFiles FLEX 1.3.2

Starting with the release of version 1.2 and ending with the release of version 1.4, yFiles Flex supports both Flex SDKs 2 and 3. The SDK3 was decided to be the major SDK, so the naming of our library files changed compared to former releases:

  • For Flex SDK2: yfiles-flex-SDK2.swc
  • For Flex SDK3: yfiles-flex.swc

yFiles FLEX 1.4 - yFiles FLEX 1.4.0.2

Compatibility with the Flex SDK 2 was removed. Only one library version for Flex SDK 3 was included:

  • For Flex SDK3: yfiles-flex.swc

since yFiles FLEX 1.4.1

Compatibility with the Flex SDK 4 was added. The library version for Flex SDK 3 was renamed:

  • For Flex SDK3: yfiles-flex-Flex3.swc
  • For Flex SDK4: yfiles-flex-Flex4.swc
The compiler error "Unable to load yfiles-flex.swc" indicates that you are using the wrong library file. Please check what library file you need.

We see that this may be confusing for customers who upgraded from earlier versions and apologize for all inconveniences this may have caused.
